A 20-year-old woman is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Oxford, according to WLWT. The incident happened around 5 p.m. yesterday at South Main Street and East Spring Street. The area close to Miami University was subsequently closed as police attended to the situation.
A 2025 Jeep Wrangler struck the victim while she was near a crosswalk, WHIO reports. She was airlifted to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where her condition remains critical. The driver of the Jeep, a 19-year-old male, was not injured during the collision and remained on the scene to cooperate with police inquiries.
As reported by Local12, the woman was trapped underneath the vehicle upon the arrival of the responding officers. Authorities have stated that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. Witnesses or anyone with additional information are encouraged to contact the Oxford Division of Police.
Oxford Police Chief John Jones mentioned that the crash is under thorough investigation, and the Butler County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team has been called in to assist. While the intersection is known to the community and the nearby university students, it is not yet known if the injured woman is affiliated with the educational institution.
