The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has once again been recognized for its commitment to bolstering minority- and women-owned businesses. For the ninth consecutive year, the agency has earned a spot in the Arizona Million Dollar Circle of Excellence, an honor bestowed by the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and its Minority Business Development Agency Business Center, for organizations spending over $1 million annually with these businesses, as reported by ADOT. In 2023, ADOT pushed nearly $65 million toward minority and women entrepreneurs.
At the recent Business Diversity Summit, the accolades didn't just fall from the sky—ADOT's pro-active stance on supplier diversity has proven to tangibly elevate businesses that historically have been edged out to the fringes of commerce. The department's DBE Supportive Services program aims specifically to rapidly bolster small businesses, helping them to get certified as disadvantaged business enterprises, and in turn, to secure work on federal-aid transportation contracts.
