For motorists who frequently navigate the Loop 101/Interstate 10 interchange, there's news on the horizon. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is bringing the community in on its plans for future enhancements to this bustling junction. Set to unfold in a virtual meeting, ADOT will be focusing on a series of proposed improvements designed to ease the daily grind for West Valley drivers.
According to an announcement, the agency intends to introduce new direct High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) ramps linking the two highways, scheduled to break ground in the summer of 2025. Set for Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m., the meeting promises a detailed presentation by ADOT's project team, available for attendance via a computer or smartphone.
Those with a preference for voice can dial in to listen by phone, calling 1-346-248-7799 and employing the Meeting ID: 874 8631 0342#. However, for those unable to attend the live briefing, the presentation will be accessible post-event on the project's website.
Among the additions, the project features a new exit ramp from southbound Loop 101 to 91st Avenue, which lies just south of I-10, as reported by ADOT. Funding is secured through Proposition 400, which the residents of Maricopa County supported by a half-cent sales tax earmarked for transportation enhancements voted back in 2004.
