The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has taken Jarquavious Demetriun Scott into custody, charging him with Felony Murder after a shooting incident in Elbert County that left a teen dead and several injured. Scott, an 18-year-old from Anderson, South Carolina, stands accused of fatally shooting 15-year-old Bryshun Treviyus O’Brien Jordan of Hartwell, according to the GBI official statements.
The tragic event unfolded on Evergreen Drive in Elberton during a homecoming afterparty late Saturday night when an apparent altercation spiraled into gunfire as was a shooting at a homecoming afterparty on October 12, 2024, at around 11:50 p.m. resulting in one minor dead and seven others in various states of injury. Scott is currently being held at the Anderson County Jail awaiting extradition to Georgia.
Fulfilling a request from the local Elbert County Sheriff's Office, GBI agents are now actively investigating the circumstances of the shooting. Anyone with potentially relevant information is encouraged to reach out. The Sheriff's Office has provided an Anonymous Tipline at 706-408-0608, and the GBI also accepts tips via phone at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), their website, or through the mobile app See Something, Send Something.
This case is part of a broader phenomenon where communities are repeatedly scarred by the senseless loss of their youth. The investigation remains active, with law enforcement calling for public assistance, recognizing that each piece of information might help pave the way toward justice for the victims and their families. The resulting case file from the investigation will ultimately be handed over to the Northern Judicial Circuit for prosecution.
