The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government (ACCGov) has issued a call for residents to apply for positions on seven key policy-making boards by Friday next week. As reported by a Civic Alert from the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government's (ACCGov) website, these positions encompass an array of governance areas, from industrial development and library management to election oversight and historic preservation.
Interested applicants can apply for one of nine openings, including seats on the library board and the Board of Elections. Each position has a term length of two to six years. Incumbents are encouraged to reapply for reappointment. Candidates must be residents of Athens-Clarke County, and details about board responsibilities can be found on the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government website.
The application process has been streamlined, with online submissions available. Hard copies can be obtained from the Clerk of Commission's Office at City Hall. The deadline to submit applications for all boards is next Friday. Individuals applying for multiple positions must complete separate applications for each.
The Mayor and Commission will hold interviews with applicants on November 14 in the afternoon and evening, open to the public. Those selected for interviews will be notified of their time slots. The Commission plans to finalize appointments at the regular session on December 3, ensuring a transparent selection process. For more information, contact Jean Spratlin, Clerk of Commission, at 706-613-3031 or visit the government website.
