Atlanta reported another double shooting yesterday evening, marking the third such incident in one day. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the shooting occurred around 9:20 p.m. in the 2300 block of Campbellton Road near Willis Mills Road SW. Officers found a 45-year-old man at the scene with injuries to his chest and shoulder; he was conscious and was taken to a local hospital.
Shortly after, police found a second victim, a 24-year-old man with injuries to his hand and hip. The incidents took place on Campbellton Road and at the Appletree Apartments. Emergency services confirmed that this victim was also conscious when help arrived, as reported by Atlanta News First. Officers are investigating a link between the two incidents.
The identities of the victims have not been released, and authorities have not provided information about any suspects. This recent surge in gun violence contrasts with the Atlanta Police Department's report to the City Council Public Safety Committee, which noted a decrease in violent crime statistics.
The recent shootings highlight ongoing concerns, with two teenagers injured in separate incidents on Monday along Greenbriar Parkway SW and near Flat Shoals Road and Fayetteville Road in southeast Atlanta, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.
