As Columbus Day approaches, Barrow County officials have announced a closure of administrative offices, courts, the senior center, and the animal shelter for the holiday. In a statement obtained by Barrow County's official website, these shutdowns are scheduled for Monday.
Victor Lord Park takes a different approach, closing its buildings and athletic fields, but lets the park's green expanses remain open. Patrons can look forward to the availability of batting cages, tennis, and pickleball courts even on the holiday. Despite the majority of services being unavailable, these recreational opportunities persist.
The Barrow County Water offices will also observe the holiday, though it has been confirmed that essential staff will remain available to address any water emergencies. Residents experiencing urgent water issues can still reach on-call staff by dialing (770) 307-3014.
At the heart of public safety, essential personnel will continue their shifts, ensuring that the holiday does not compromise the welfare of the county's residents. Emergency services are assured to remain vigilant during the holiday, keeping with the commitment of protecting the community.
