Bexar County property owners discovered human remains yesterday while doing routine landscaping. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the discovery, which occurred in a field on the far west side, as KSAT reported.
The remains were found near the intersection of the Highway 90 access road and Pue Road while the landowners were performing their annual maintenance on the grassy area. Sheriff Javier Salazar reported that while trimming brush, the property owners discovered an object that turned out to be a human skull. A subsequent search by authorities revealed most of the skeletal remains. Salazar, in a statement obtained by KENS 5, noted the bones "appear to be bleached out and have likely been there for over a year."
Details about how the person died are still unclear. Sheriff Salazar told KSAT that it is uncertain whether the death was due to suspicious activity or natural causes. The property owners, who visit the area annually, had not noticed any signs of remains during previous visits. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is asking the public to share any information that could help identify the person and provide context to this case.
