A Boston man charged with a series of sexual offenses during a medical exam is being held on $50,000 bail, as announced by Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden. According to the Suffolk DA's office, Christopher Fisher, 58, faces charges including indecent assault and battery and possession of a class E substance after an incident at Mass General Hospital.
Fisher, who is currently a registered level 3 sex offender, appeared in Chelsea District Court where Judge Matthew Machera imposed the bail terms. During Fisher's court appearance, he was also ordered to stay away from the hospital and to undergo a mental health evaluation. His 19-page board of probation record includes multiple similar offenses. The district attorney's office reported that Fisher's next court appearance is scheduled for October 31st for a pre-trial hearing.
The encounter in question occurred when Fisher asked to be examined by a female doctor at the MGH Healthcare Center, citing concerns over a genital rash and bleeding. Despite the presence of a medical assistant, which is standard protocol for such examinations, Fisher escalated the situation. "Fisher insisted he suffered from a rash while grabbing his erect penis and saying 'Look! Look at it! There is something there,’” the Suffolk DA's press release detailed the events.
The attending doctor and assistant immediately reported the assault, corroborating each other's statements to the police. Fisher's behavior included an attempt to ejaculate on the doctor, despite being told no rash was present. During the subsequent search, officers found Fisher in possession of 17.5 white oval pills secreted in a black plastic bag in his sock. "Incidents like this illustrate how unpredictable a call or interaction can be for health care workers and first responders. I am very sorry for what these women witnessed while they were simply trying to do their jobs," Hayden expressed his sympathies for the healthcare professionals involved.
