Community engagement was a highlight as Boston's District E-5 police officers participated in the Holy Name Parish School's annual Touch a Truck & Fall Festival. According to a report by the Boston Police Department, the event was lively, allowing families to explore large trucks and emergency vehicles, decorate cookies, and try their luck at a dunk tank.
The festival served not only as a playground for spirited local youngsters but also as a bridge between law enforcement and community residents. "We loved seeing all the smiles and laughter as we connected with our neighbors, building relationships one festive moment at a time," the District E-5 Community Service team expressed, as reported by the BPD.
A cornerstone of the event was the variety of activities that let children and their families get up close and personal with the vehicles that serve their community. From towering fire trucks that pierce the sky to ambulances that weave through it with urgency, the festival provided a tangible educational experience. It was an opportunity for the BPD to peel back the curtain on their operations and foster a sense of familiarity and safety among residents—especially the city's youngest.
