Early Tuesday morning, a shooting incident in Roxbury ended with one man being fatally wounded. At approximately 1:36 AM, Boston Police responded to reports of a person shot on 17 Hammond Street. Officers arrived to find a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The incident is now the subject of an active investigation being conducted by the Homicide Unit of the Boston Police Department.
"About 1:36 AM on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024, Officers assigned to District D-4 (Back Bay/South End) responded to a radio call for Person Shot at 17 Hammond St, Roxbury," was how the police summarized the event in a statement. In a bid to rigorously gather information, the department is urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
