Boulder County Invites Youth to Share "Favorite Colorado Water Memory" in 2024 St. Vrain Watershed Art ContestSource: Boulder County

The Keep It Clean Partnership is seeking the creative insight of Boulder County's youth with the launch of their 2024 Boulder St. Vrain Watershed Art Contest, as per a recent announcement. Encouraging students in grades K-12 who reside or go to school in the area to submit their artistic renditions, the competition revolves around the evocative prompt, “My favorite Colorado water memory is...”.

Those willing to paint, draw, or collage their water-centric memories have until November 24, to send in their submissions, which must include a sentence describing the depicted memory and the accompanied work, fashioned on an 8.5" x 11" paper with a range of permissible materials like crayons, markers, and pastels, though photographs and digital art are excluded. According to Boulder County, there is an array of prizes across grade divisions up for grabs, with the lookout for three winners in each category.

Judges will evaluate the submissions and distribute awards such as $75 in art supplies and gift cards for first-place winners in the Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, and 3rd, 5th Grade divisions, and $100 for the first-place winner in the older 6th – 8th Grade and 9th – 12th Grade divisions. Cristina Ramirez, the Keep It Clean Partnership Coordinator, shared a personal anecdote regarding her move to Colorado and the connection she felt to the state through its waterways, as obtained by Boulder County, she stated, "The steep climb was tough, but there were colorful Aspens along the way and a huge, breathtaking waterfall at the end, it made me feel truly connected to my new home."
