
An 18-year-old named Ty'Jae Dukes is facing serious charges following a shooting in Brentwood that left a 17-year-old victim critically injured. The incident happened on the evening of September 19 on Sand Creek Road. According to the City of Brentwood Police Department, Dukes allegedly fired the shots that led to the victim sustaining life-threatening injuries, though the victim managed to survive.
Running away from the scene of the crime, several individuals, with the shooter among them, sought refuge at a residence on Brush Creek Drive. Using an Armored Rescue Vehicle, Brentwood officers engaged in an operation to apprehend the suspect and recover the weapon used. Dukes was arrested at the location in an effort that showcased the swift action by law enforcement to manage what had turned into a critical situation.
The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office didn't hesitate to file charges against Dukes. On September 24, charges for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and other related charges were announced.
