A young man has been formally charged in connection with a homicide that took place in 2023 in the City of Brockton. A statement released on social media by Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announced that Kahmari T. Price, 17, was indicted by a Plymouth County grand jury on a charge of murder. Details provided in the announcement reveal Price is being held without bail pending further legal proceedings.
The incident, which occurred on the late evening of February 26, 2023, began to unfold when a Brockton Police officer on routine patrol was alerted to the sound of a gunshot near North Main and Spring Streets. It was approximately 10:27 p.m. when first responders, upon scrambling to the location, discovered a male victim, later identified as Mark Boyd, 33, of Quincy, with what appeared to be a lethal gunshot wound to the head. Boyd was quickly transported to Good Samaritan Hospital but was unfortunately pronounced dead soon after arrival, a casualty of the violence that has become all too familiar in our streets.
Following a comprehensive investigation, which included coordination between Massachusetts State Police and Brockton Police, Price was located and apprehended. According to the DA's announcement, Price was arrested on April 1, 2024, by members of the MSP Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS), aided by the MSP Critical Technical Investigations Team. They were able to successfully track down and take Price into custody without incident at an address in Worcester.
