A Buckhead streetwear shop has suffered a break-in, where an SUV was used to ram through the front of the establishment. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, early Tuesday morning, thieves targeted PriceTag ATL, resulting in significant damage and loss of merchandise. Surveillance footage showed the perpetrators using the vehicle to gain entry before fleeing the scene.
Owner Sharif Deshazor described the ordeal as a continuing nightmare, having experienced multiple incidents since the shop’s recent opening. "It's hard to recover from taking these losses back-to-back," Deshazor told FOX 5 Atlanta. Despite efforts to fortify the business with a new security system, the burglars struck again, inflicting even more financial strain on the shop. Lamenting on the state of his venture, Deshazor said, it's just been very disheartening that we continue to deal with this in our community.
The break-in at PriceTag ATL is not an isolated incident, as 11Alive reported similar crimes at other boutique retail shops across metro Atlanta. The surveillance video obtained by 11Alive depicts the chaotic scene as the vehicle smashed through the storefront and a suspect is seen grabbing merchandise before the alerted security system's intercom prompted a hasty retreat.
With considerable losses amounting to several hundred thousand dollars, Deshazor and his employees are undoubtedly feeling the impact. In a statement to 11Alive, Deshazor expressed uncertainty about the future but remains hopeful for community support. "Right now, we are just taking it day by day," he conveyed, articulating a plea for unity among small businesses and the community at large in the face of such adversity.
Authorities have yet to determine if there is a link between this and other recent burglaries. In the meantime, PriceTag ATL is considering transitioning to an online store while its physical location remains closed.
