
Cambridge is preparing for a weekend of street closures and community events on October 12-13. The festivities begin with the Found Cambridge FOUND Block Party, which will close Columbia Street from Bishop Allen Drive to Main Street on Saturday, October 12, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to a recent announcement by the City of Cambridge.
The CommonCares 25th Anniversary Block Party will provide its own festivities next to St. Peter's Church on Sellers Street, which will be closed from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. while the party takes place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. During these hours, Sellers Street will be impassable between Green Street and Massachusetts Avenue.
On Sunday, local Black-owned businesses will take center stage at the Harvard Square Black Owned Business Pop-up Market. Palmer Street will be transformed into a lively marketplace from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., requiring its closure from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The same Sunday will feature The Comedy Studio Street Party, where The Comedy Studio will host an afternoon of laughs and entertainment on JFK Street. The festivities are set for 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., but street closures will be in effect from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
After the weekend's events, Indigenous People's Day will be celebrated on Monday, October 14, with a gathering organized by the Central Square BID in University Park. This event will run from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will require the closure of Sidney Street from Franklin Street to Pilgrim Street from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
