
Charlotte County residents affected by the recent storm now have additional options for debris disposal. Three temporary drop-off locations have been set up specifically for local residents, with no contractor or business use allowed. \ the new schedule and locations for debris drop-off in the aftermath of the storm.
The two transfer facilities, Mid-County Mini-Transfer & Recycling Facility in Port Charlotte and West Charlotte Mini-Transfer & Recycling Facility in Englewood, will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday through Saturday. A special drop-off site is also available at the Charlotte County Landfill in Punta Gorda, with hours of operation from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays. A range of items, including construction materials, e-waste, and large appliances, will be accepted with proof of residency.
Residents should note a few rules: a valid form of identification is required, showing their name, photo, and local address. If the photo ID is from outside the area, it must be accompanied by a utility bill or another document that confirms a Charlotte County address—P.O. Boxes are not accepted. Trailers longer than 12 feet will not be permitted, and debris should not be mixed with household garbage or yard waste in bags. Currently, there is no limit on the number of visits or the volume of materials dropped off at the sites.
This service has been set up to assist with the disposal of various types of debris left by the storm, as noted in the county's press release. Household hazardous wastes are also accepted, but commercial use is prohibited; the service is strictly for residential purposes.
