The hottest days arrive Wednesday and Thursday, when highs could reach 97 degrees. The National Weather Service says triple-digit heat index readings are likely across the lower elevations, especially south of Interstate 85, with the potential for heat advisories later in the week.
Storm Chances Stay Limited For Now
Rain chances remain close to zero through Thursday, though Friday brings a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Saturday should be mostly sunny and near 94 degrees, with only a slight chance of afternoon storms.
No watches, warnings or advisories are posted for Charlotte in the current forecast. Still, people planning outdoor work or exercise should take advantage of Sunday morning's cooler window, then plan for water, shade and regular breaks as the heat intensifies.
The sharper heat outlook is a substantive change from Saturday's cloudy, spotty-storm setup described in Hoodline's earlier forecast.
