
Charlotte Fire has announced the recipients of the Charlotte Fire Award for Bravery. This award honors members who showed exceptional courage during a significant event in the city on April 29. Among those recognized are Deputy Chief Pete Skeris, Division Chief Eric Withers, and Battalion Chiefs Michael Clumpner and John Lipcsak, among others, as stated by the City of Charlotte.
The firefighters risked their lives to protect others. Captain Austin Ely, Captain Hunter Meadows, Engineer Gregory Marron, and other firefighters demonstrated the selflessness and courage of the Charlotte Fire Department. They acted in dangerous conditions to prevent an incident that could have seriously affected the city, as reported by the City of Charlotte.
The individuals honored by Charlotte Fire demonstrated remarkable dedication. "The actions of these firefighters on that fateful day remind us of the true meaning of bravery and selflessness," stated Charlotte Fire Chief Reginald Johnson, reflecting on the situation and his team's efforts. The awarded firefighters set a high bar for service, with Chief Johnson remarking, "They stood in harm’s way to protect others, showcasing the very best of what it means to serve this city. Their courage, determination, and heroism will forever be a source of pride for Charlotte Fire and our community," as he expressed appreciation in the press statement, according to the City of Charlotte.
