The City of Charlotte is making civic engagement more accessible with the release of its new streaming app for the GOV Channel. Residents can now plug into city happenings via mobile or TV, freeing them from the traditional cable subscription tether. The app is set to bring live broadcasts of city council meetings and various community events directly into the palms of citizen-hands, effectively pulling city hall out into the digital sphere.

"The new streaming app is a game-changer for how residents can engage with the city and stay informed," City of Charlotte Communications Director Jason Schneider expressed excitement. As reported by Charlotte's official website, residents can now choose to fully immerse themselves in local governance by streaming important announcements and council meetings as they unfold live, wherever and whenever convenience allows.

The app touts key features aimed to better serve the community. Beyond live streaming capabilities, users have on-demand access to catch up on important city briefings, and exclusive content like interviews and special segments on city initiatives promises to enrich the user experience with added depth and dimension.

Part of a broader initiative to enhance open communication between government officials and the community, the app stands as a testament to civic innovation. "This app allows us to deliver important updates and information directly to our residents, whether at home or on the go and will make city meetings and content much more accessible not just to residents but to anyone who has access to streaming apps across the region and the country," Schneider told Charlotte's news release.
