A man has been charged with vehicular hijacking following an incident where a 68-year-old male was forcefully deprived of his vehicle, according to the Chicago Police Department. David Etheridge, 41, residing on the 5400 block of W. Division, stands accused of the crime that unfolded on September 29, 2024, in Chicago's 11th District.
Etheridge allegedly approached the victim in the 3700 block of W. Chicago and took control of the vehicle by force. Police located and arrested Etheridge on September 30, 2024, in the 500 block of N. Pulaski Rd. Following his arrest, he has since been charged with one felony count of vehicular hijacking.
The incident has prompted the issuance of a warrant and Etheridge's detention hearing is scheduled for today, at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California. The details surrounding the circumstances of the hijacking have not been elaborated upon at this time.
