Juan Salgado, a 17-year-old teen was shot and killed while driving along the 3800 block of West 26th Street on August 19, according to ABC7 Chicago. Salgado was slated to begin his senior year at Juarez Community Academy just a week later.
The charges against Pena Jr. come after he was identified by police as the shooter in an incident that left one dead and two other teens unharmed. The two survivors in the vehicle, a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man escaped the gunfire without physical injuries. WGN-TV reported that Pena Jr.'s detention hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
