The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert following a series of burglaries across the 19th District. Businesses and at least one residential garage have been targeted by burglars, with the incidents reportedly taking place in late September and early October.

According to the CPD, these break-ins have occurred during the "late evening and afternoon hours" in specific areas. Incident locations include the 2700 Block of North Lincoln Ave on September 28 at 1:30 am, the 1100 Block of West Montana St on September 29 at 11:30 am, and the 2800 Block of North Clark Ave on October 3 at 1:35 am. The authorities have outlined safety precautions for local residents, advising them to keep the perimeter of their property well-lit and to report any suspicious activity immediately, among others.

The alert also provided a description of the offenders: one male, African American, believed to be around 30 years old with dreadlocks, and one female, White Hispanic, also around 30, with long hair. Both were seen wearing dark clothing and carrying backpacks.

In an effort to aid the ongoing investigations, the CPD has requested that anyone with video surveillance that captured the incidents save and make a copy for detectives. "If you are a victim do not touch anything, call police immediately," the statement from CPD advised. They have also reminded the public to secure doors and windows and to immediately repair any potential entry points like broken windows, doors, or locks.

The Chicago Police Department continues to seek information that might lead to the arrest of the individuals responsible for these burglaries and encourages witnesses or anyone with pertinent details to come forward.
