On the evening of October 20, 24-year-old Cynthia Garcia was arrested and later charged with aggravated battery involving the discharge of a firearm, according to Chicago Police Department reports. The incident, which occurred in the city's 8th District, involved a 25-year-old female victim who was shot on W. 47th St. and sustained injuries.
Garcia, residing on the 5800 block of S. Trumbull Ave. in Chicago, faces one felony count of aggravated battery with the discharge of a firearm and an additional count of aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm, as detailed by the Chicago Police Department. Caught just blocks away from the scene of the crime, Garcia's apprehension by police took place at about 9:01 p.m., merely an hour after the reported shooting.
The court has scheduled a detention hearing for the accused on October 23, at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California, as per the CPD. As of now, little else has been made public regarding the circumstances of the shooting or the condition of the victim, whose identity has yet to be released.
