A 52-year-old man was tragically killed by the bucket of an excavator at a construction site in Stowe Township yesterday morning, a distressing incident communicated by the Allegheny County police. The construction equipment reportedly tipped forward, fatally striking the man on site at 2201 Robinson Blvd., where Mamont Supply Inc. was undertaking a work project.

Despite the prompt arrival of first responders to the location, the man's life could not be salvaged. The incident scene retained the grim image of the excavator into early Tuesday evening, hinting at the gravity of the accident with its back end lifted from the ground. According to WPXI, detectives have discerned no indications of foul play.

Dave Truman, the owner of Mamont Supply Inc. and the victim's employer, described the incident as "a sheer accident that was frankly unavoidable" in a phone interview with WTAE. Truman further detailed that the victim was working on the ground in front of the machine when the mishap occurred, adding that another person had operationalized the excavator at that time.

Remembered as a devoted family man, the victim was a husband and father to three children who had been selling construction equipment full-time and part-time. "On each of the occasions when he left his employer, he asked for part-time work as he looked for other full-time jobs," Truman stated, per WPXI. Reflecting the seriousness and depth of the tragedy, the construction site will be closed for the rest of the week.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has taken the lead in investigating the incident. This procedure has a six-month timeline for completing the inquiry and releasing findings. In the meantime, Allegheny County homicide investigators who were summoned to the scene have passed the case to OSHA after initial evaluations.
