The downtown St. Louis dining scene will lose a relatively new establishment this month. Billy's on Broadway, which opened in June 2023, has announced it will close on Friday. The restaurant and bar shared the news on social media, stating, "The current landscape of the restaurant industry has become increasingly challenging, and it has pushed us beyond reasonable limits" as the reason for the decision, as reported by STLtoday.

Located at 701 South Broadway, Billy's replaced Beale on Broadway, a music venue that closed in 2019. Efforts to contact owner Billy Roe were unsuccessful, and he was not available to speak at the restaurant on Tuesday. According to KSDK, the location has seen other businesses leave as well, with the arcade bar Start Bar closing earlier this month on October 14.

The closure of Billy's is part of a trend for downtown businesses, suggesting possible issues in the hospitality sector or changes in dining habits in the area. "While we're unable to continue in our current form, we remain hopeful for the future and are exploring opportunities to reimagine our concept or foster a relationship for new owners. For now, we simply cannot find a way to move forward as we are," the restaurant explained in a statement shared on social media platforms, as stated by KSDK.

As the final service date approaches, patrons of Billy's have only a few days left to visit before it closes like other recent downtown businesses. "We want to express our heartfelt appreciation for your support. ... Unfortunately, we are announcing that we will be closing our doors on Oct. 25," read the statement shared by Sauce Magazine
