As part of its initiative to shine a light on domestic violence issues, El Mirage Cares is stepping up this October, Domestic Violence Awareness month. They're putting feet on the street with a Walk to End Domestic Violence scheduled for Saturday, October 19. The event kicks off bright and early at 8 a.m. at the Gateway Park Pavilion, according to the city's official announcement.
This event isn’t just a walk for the sake of walking; it will kick off with talks from guest speakers who are likely to offer valuable insights and motivation to participants. After that, walkers will head to Basin Park before making their way back to Gateway Park. To ensure everyone stays nourished and hydrated, organizers will supply food and water.
For those interested in collecting memorabilia or shielding themselves from the Arizona sun, the event will offer free t-shirts and visors. However, supplies are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, so it's recommended that those who wish to participate register in advance.
