The North Phoenix community staples, much like a trusty espresso machine, have not only been a source of daily grind but also a beacon of community spirit. Elevate Coffee Co., a cozy coffee shop situated at The Shops at Norterra, just marked its 14th anniversary this October. As reported Patch, the celebration invites friends, family, co-workers, and, of course, the regulars, to join in on the festivities, which spanned from the 1st through the 7th of the month.
Founded with a vision to create a gathering spot for the local community, the partners behind the initiative saw their efforts quickly turn to cater to a diverse clientele. Troy Hailpern, one of the business partners, emphasized the role of Elevate Coffee Co. Troy Hailpern told Phoenix New Times, "Back in early 2010, the community of Hope Church got together and involved several community leaders and designed a safe place to meet, to gather and a coffee shop was the perfect answer for that."
Within the past year alone, the establishment has notably served over 132,000 customers and has been the venue for more than 200 meetings, also featuring over 80 live music performances. Its 3,400-square-foot coffee shop has not only been successful in creating a space for gathering but also in serving a range of delectable offerings. Their diverse menu boasts a selection from iced oat milk lattes to the hearty spinach Waldorf salad, alongside seasonal specialties like the pumpkin pie latte and spiced brown sugar maple chai.
Elevate Coffee Co.'s commitment stretches beyond their brick-and-mortar venue. They have actively contributed to both local and global causes. “We've kind of decided our expansion model is really to get out in the community with our mobile services," Hailpern detailed to Phoenix New Times. This spirit of outreach is evidenced by their mobile coffee cart and trailer, which deepens their connection with the community. Furthermore, their philanthropic efforts include raising over $25,000 at the Walk 4 Norterra event, funding wells in remote Ugandan villages, and showing local support by treating teachers from nearby elementary schools to coffee.
The future looks promising for Elevate Coffee Co. They plan to continue the 14-year tradition of community involvement and coffee craftsmanship. As they broaden their approach to include mobile services, their steadfast presence in the Valley seems set to endure for many more years.
