Early Thursday morning, a car crash on I-20 Eastbound near Windsor St. killed one man and injured three others. A black Hyundai Sonata veered off the road into the median, struck a light pole and guard rail, and rolled over several times before ending up overturned on the Windsor St. ramp, according to the Atlanta Police Department.
The Atlanta Police Department reported that when they arrived around 2:01 a.m., they found one adult male passenger ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The other occupants, including the driver, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Grady Hospital for treatment.
The Accident Investigations Unit is currently investigating to understand the circumstances of this tragedy. While details are limited, they are focused on determining what caused the vehicle and its passengers to come to a sudden stop.
The Eastbound ramp was closed for hours after the accident as authorities managed the situation. The Atlanta Police Department has not yet released the names of the victim or survivors, following standard protocol to notify next-of-kin. The investigation continues to seek answers.
