
A late-night collision on Market at 14th resulted in a fatality, according to St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department officials. The crash, which took place just after 1:00 a.m. yesterday, involved a 2023 Dodge Durango and a 2002 Dodge Caravan, as per the SLMPD.
The initial investigation suggests that the Durango, driven by a 35-year-old woman, was traveling westbound on Market when it ran a red light at the intersection of 14th. The Caravan, which was moving southbound on 14th, entered the intersection with a green light and was hit by the Durango. The collision left the Durango overturned; its occupants were taken to an area hospital by EMS personnel. The condition of the Durango's driver, and two passengers, both men aged 44 and 40 respectively have not been disclosed.
The Caravan, driven by a 33-year-old woman, also had a passenger, a 32-year-old woman. Both were transported to the hospital by EMS following the accident. However, there has been no update on their conditions following the incident.
Tragically, a rear-seat passenger from the Durango, another 32-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The investigation into the crash is now in the hands of the Accident Reconstruction team, who are working to understand the precise causes and factors involved in the incident, and if there are any charges to be laid.
The identities of those involved in the crash have not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. The SLMPD will continue to provide updates as the investigation unfolds.
