A serious collision this Tuesday morning involving two semi-tractor trailers claimed a life and left another individual in critical condition in the suburbs of Chicago. The accident occurred at a key intersection in Carpentersville, causing significant road closures that disrupted the usual pulse of the rush hour traffic.
The incident took place around 7:39 a.m. when a Freightliner semi-trailer failed to properly adhere to a stop sign on Miller Road as it approached the intersection with Route 31. The oversight led to a catastrophic encounter with a Mack semi-trailer, which resulted in one fatality and critical injuries, as reported by ABC7 Chicago. The Kane County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the Freightliner, which was hauling sand, was headed eastbound while the Mack semi was navigating southbound on Route 31.
According to the details shared by the Kane County Sheriff's Office, the driver of the Freightliner semi was ejected from the cab due to not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene, as per NBC Chicago's coverage of the incident.
