The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is currently leading the investigation into the murder of 16-year-old Darion Davis from Pearson, GA. In a recent operation, five individuals were arrested on charges ranging from malice murder to aggravated battery, according to a GBI press release.
The individuals arrested vary in age, with a 15-year-old facing the charge of malice murder, along with a 14-year-old and another 16-year-old. Verntron White, 17, and Ta’shunika Jones, 21, are also facing charges related to the incident. According to the GBI's report, an assault took place on October 12, which led to the death of Davis in a Savannah hospital. The report states that the 15-year-old suspect used a pipe to strike Davis multiple times.
The case details are still developing as the investigation continues. Evidence, including a video of the fight, indicates it likely led to the tragic outcome. This has resulted in the arrests of White and Jones, who are now in Atkinson County Jail, while the minors have been placed in the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
The autopsy, conducted by the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Decatur, is pending and will provide clarity on the cause and manner of Davis' death. The GBI urges anyone with information to contact the Atkinson County Sheriff’s Office or submit tips anonymously through phone or online.
