A 24-year-old man from Fort Campbell died in a high-speed motorcycle crash on I-24 West early Sunday morning. The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. between the Old Hickory Boulevard and Joelton exits. His identity is still being confirmed by the medical examiner and his family has not yet been notified, the Nashville government website reported.
Witnesses told investigators the motorcyclist had zoomed past them at speeds over 100 mph before discovering the aftermath of what appeared to be a solo-vehicle crash. His motorcycle lay wrecked after entering a curve, suggesting he lost control on a curve, which led to his death at the scene.
Despite wearing a helmet, the rider could not escape the risks of high speeds. Officials found no signs of impairment at the crash site.
