In the early hours of Saturday, Fort Collins Police were dispatched to address an overnight shooting in the 400 block of Butch Cassidy Drive. According to the City of Fort Collins, the call came in at about 02:56 am, hinting at multiple shots fired. During their response, officers also made their way to a separate location, where a male victim, in a vehicle riddled with bullet holes, reported being shot.
The injured adult male was found with a gunshot wound and promptly transported to an area hospital. His injuries were serious, but he is expected to make a recovery. The origins of the shooting appear to have stemmed from a disturbance that broke out at a local party on Butch Cassidy Drive.
Presently, Fort Collins Police detectives are meticulously piecing together the events of that evening. Fort Collins Police Crimes Against Persons Sergeant Randy Klamser emphasized the gravity of their mission, “We have multiple detectives investigating this case, and will work to not only find answers for those involved but to hold those responsible accountable for their actions,” as stated by the City of Fort Collins. Despite the ongoing investigation, authorities believe this to be an isolated event posing no further risk to the community.
