After an extensive manhunt spanning nearly five years, Clayton County authorities, and the U.S. Marshals have succeeded in apprehending Tiunna Williams, a woman accused of a 2019 murder in Clayton County and listed as one of the county's top ten most-wanted fugitives. Williams, now 23 years old, was arrested without incident in Columbus, Ohio, by the Franklin County SWAT Team and U.S. Marshals on Friday, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.
Details on the circumstances of the arrest and Williams’ involvement in the crime shed light on a case that has gripped the local community since 2019. The Clayton County Police Department had responded to a report of a shooting at a north Clayton County apartment complex on April 3, 2019, where they discovered Robert Ragland with a fatal gunshot wound to the abdomen. An April 2024 press release from the CCPD cited by News-Daily, indicated that Williams allegedly lured Ragland to the site of the shooting as part of a plot to rob him, resulting in his death.
This development marks the end of a search that took investigators from Georgia to Ohio. The Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team played a critical role in Williams’ capture, which was achieved without the volatility or violence that can often accompany such arrests. She is set to be extradited back to Clayton County, where she will face multiple charges, including malice murder, felony murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault with intent to rob, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Further compounding the narrative of her flight from justice, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office had previously placed Williams on its Top Ten Most Wanted List, a distinction that underscores the severity of her alleged crimes and the priority level of her case. Sheriff Levon Allen's Elite Fugitive Squad was activated to track her down – their efforts, along with information that eventually led U.S. Marshals to an Ohio residence where Williams was hiding out, ended her time as a fugitive. Her arrest, carried out by the combined forces of local and federal law enforcement, brings a measure of closure to a case that has lingered in the public consciousness, as FOX 5 Atlanta notes. As proceedings move forward, the community awaits the judicial process and, with it, a hope for justice and resolution.
