Tragedy struck a quiet Gilbert neighborhood last weekend, as authorities discovered the body of a 28-year-old woman in the middle of a street. The Gilbert Police Department responded to a report about a non-responsive woman found near Lindsay Road and Melody Drive shortly before 5 a.m. on September 28, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.
The woman, whose identity was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Offering insights into the ongoing investigation, police stated, "Preliminary information and evidence gathered through the investigation indicates the woman’s cause of death was a result of self-inflicted injuries," stated FOX 10 Phoenix.
"Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time," the department said, as per 12News.
In a gesture of compassion, both reports included resources for those struggling with mental health issues. "If you or a loved one is feeling distressed, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. The crisis center provides free and confidential emotional support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to civilians and veterans," urged the police statement.
