An 86-year-old man named Dennis Desrosiers tragically lost his life in Grafton, Massachusetts, on a harsh Saturday when a fallen tree limb struck him in his yard. According to NBC Boston, the incident occurred around 12:26 p.m., and emergency responders transported Desrosiers to a nearby hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead.
The violent gusts sweeping through New England that day brought down trees and power lines, disrupting the lives of thousands without electricity in New Hampshire and Maine, as reported by WCVB. As the Grafton Police and State Police detectives attached to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office conduct the investigation, officials have not yet provided further details to the public regarding the specific circumstances of Desrosiers' death.
Authorities urge residents to exercise extreme caution during severe weather events, especially when gusty winds can turn a mundane backyard into the scene of a fatal accident. They emphasize the importance of looking after the elderly and vulnerable who may not be able to respond quickly to such dangers.
