Chaos erupted in Spring Hill yesterday evening when an altercation at a local Target turned violent, resulting in a gunshot being fired. The incident, which took place at the Crossings of Spring Hill store, was first reported on social media at 7:40 p.m., as the Spring Hill police announced an increased presence in the area, News Channel 5 stated.
Following the initial response, the police quickly established a perimeter around the store. After a verbal dispute between two women escalated to physical violence, "at least one gunshot" was fired, according to statements released by the police and provided to WKRN. The women, who were reportedly strangers to one another, clashed in the back section of Target for reasons still under investigation. The argument turned physical, and one of the women discharged a handgun. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of this incident.
Authorities later disseminated a surveillance photo of the alleged shooter, who was seen leaving the establishment and entering a vehicle. According to a police update at 9:51 p.m., this information was added incrementally after the incident. By 10:29 p.m., the Spring Hill police had identified the suspect as a 24-year-old woman residing in Columbia, TN. In a statement obtained by FOX17, they further confirmed that no injuries had been reported and that the woman was cooperating with the investigation.
While the shooter's identity has not been publicly disclosed, the Spring Hill police emphasized the ongoing nature of their investigation. They appealed to the community for additional information, which can be submitted through their designated tip link.
