The Gwinnett County Police Department intensifies its search for 27-year-old Yago Reyes, who is wanted in connection with a violent robbery that occurred outside a Gwinnett County gas station in September. According to Atlanta News First, Reyes has outstanding arrest warrants for armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony.
A surveillance camera captured the harrowing encounter behind a Shell gas station on Pleasant Hill Road in unincorporated Duluth, where Reyes was seen engaging in a fight with another man. In the struggle that ensued, the victim suffered a hand cut before Reyes made off with his backpack. Police ask anyone who sees Reyes to call 911. Misplaced confidence as dangerous as a knife, police say Reyes should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached by the public.
As reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, Corporal Juan Mediedo detailed the brutality of the attack, saying, "The suspect now produces an edged weapon from his waistband. He places it on the victim's neck." Reyes is described as a Hispanic man, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a weight of about 175 pounds, and may use the street name "Chimichanga."
Local residents have expressed shock and concern. Christopher Reeves, an area resident, told FOX 5 Atlanta, "I hope they catch this person doing this because I live in this neighborhood.
