Holly Springs, Georgia, saw an instance of extreme speeding Tuesday last week when a driver was caught going more than double the speed limit. According to the FOX 5 Atlanta, the individual was clocked at a whopping 154 miles per hour on Interstate 575, near Sixes Road, a road where the legal speed tops out at 70 mph.
Local authorities did not overlook this case of excessive speeding. Holly Springs Police posted a message on Facebook stating, "Speeding is dangerous. It endangers lives. Slow down, obey the speed limit, and keep the roads safe." According to WSB-TV, the driver was traveling southbound when officers recorded their high speed on radar.
In Georgia, speeding can lead to serious penalties. Under the "Super Speeder Law," drivers caught going 75 MPH or more on two-lane roads or 85 MPH or more on multi-lane roads must pay an extra $200 fee, as per WSB-TV. The driver's identity remains unknown, as Holly Springs Police have not released any details about their age or name.
