Law enforcement in Holyoke has taken action to address illegal firearms and drugs in the community. On Wednesday, the Holyoke Police Department, in collaboration with the C.I.N.R.E.T. task force, executed a search warrant at a residence on 359 Walnut Street. This operation led to the arrest of 29-year-old Carlos Marrero. During the search, a large capacity firearm and a significant quantity of cocaine were discovered in the home, the Holyoke Police Department reported via a social media post.
As a result of this operation, Marrero now faces multiple charges including the possession with intent to distribute Class A substances, trafficking Class B substances specifically between 36 to 100 grams, illegal possession of a large capacity feeding device, and having firearms and ammunition without a Firearm Identification Card (FID). Additional charges cited include the improper storage of a firearm. These multiple charges come during a time when Holyoke Police have increased their efforts to address narcotics and unlicensed firearms on the streets.
The Holyoke Police Department expressed gratitude towards their law enforcement partners, acknowledging the collaborative effort in tackling illegal firearms circulation. "The Holyoke Police would like to thank our law enforcement partners in taking another illegal gun off the streets of Holyoke," they stated.
