Early Saturday morning, a 19-year-old man, Ariez Sylve-Matautia, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in the Wahiawa area of Honolulu. According to Hawaii News Now, the suspect is accused of opening fire multiple times at a 27-year-old man around 1:30 a.m.
Honolulu Police Department officials said that the incident resulted in Sylve-Matautia's arrest later that morning, at about 10 a.m, as per Hawaii News Now. The reported target of the gunfire was uninjured, as the shots hit only the victim’s vehicle. There has been no mention of what may have led to the shooting, nor of any prior connection between the individuals involved.
Further details were provided by KITV, noting that the incident took place at 1148 Hoihoi Ave, and the suspect, Sylve-Matautia, was taken into custody pending investigation. The Honolulu Emergency Medical Services has yet to report any injuries related to the incident. For now, Sylve-Matautia remains under arrest as the Honolulu Police Department progresses with their investigation.
