Shuckers Waterfront Grill in North Bay Village is closing after over 30 years of serving locals and visitors. Known for its fresh oysters and prime rib sandwiches, the restaurant held a three-day farewell celebration starting on Friday. It will officially close after its final day on Sunday, as reported by Local 10 News.

The closure follows the sale of the property to a real estate developer for $75 million, contributing to the city's rapid development. While many are sad and sharing memories, staff members have suggested a potential revival of Shuckers at a new location. However, the current spot at 1819 79th Street Causeway will close its doors for good after today.

"It's an absolute travesty," lamented Daniel Labaton, one of the regulars whose patronage spans a lifetime, in a statement obtained by CBS News Miami. The community's efforts to save the cherished spot, including petitions and public outcry, were unable to change the tides of development that have now reached Shuckers's storied shores.

"We come out here to the Haulover sandbar, come out drinking with our friends and you pull up here on your boat get a great meal," said Michael Karp to CBS News Miami. Kevin Amiott, area director of food and beverage for Jesta Hotels, added that they are looking for new locations to revive Shuckers, ideally close to its original spot, to keep the legacy alive for loyal fans.
