In an early morning incident in Park Ridge, a convenience store clerk faced a terrifying event when a man wielding a knife robbed the 7-Eleven/Mobile gas station. The armed robbery occurred just after 1 a.m. at the location on 814 Higgins Rd. The Park Ridge Police Department has confirmed they are actively searching for the white male suspect, described as being between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall. CBS Chicago reports that the clerk was forced to hand over money from the register and his wallet by the robber.
The suspect, last seen fleeing the scene of the crime heading westbound, was dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt and a black puffy hooded jacket with fur around the hood, per WGN-TV. The garments were camouflaging the man's identity, who also donned blue jeans, black shoes, and white rubber gloves. He carried a gray colored backpack, running westbound from the store after the incident.
