A Knoxville firefighter sustained minor injuries while responding to a house fire yesterday. Knoxville Fire Department (KFD) crews arrived at the scene along Bradshaw Garden Road shortly after 4 p.m. to find the back porch engulfed in flames, with the fire having spread to the attic, as reported by WVLT.
In a concerted effort, KFD personnel managed to extinguish the blaze swiftly. Despite the quick response, the home incurred moderate smoke, water, and fire damage. Firefighters encountered unexpected challenges, leading to injuries for one of their own who was subsequently taken to the hospital for evaluation, according to the Knoxville Daily Sun.
Amidst the unfortunate events, there was a glimmer of relief as the two residents, an adult female and her daughter, along with their pet dog, escaped the house without injury. The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the family to help manage the immediate aftermath of the crisis, offering support and resources during this challenging time.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Knoxville Fire Department's investigations unit. As per a statement obtained by WIVK, investigators are working diligently to determine the source of the conflagration. In the meantime, community members are reminded of the inherent risks firefighters face every day and the sacrifices they make to ensure public safety.
