In a late-night incident that turned tragic on October 6, Lake Havasu City Police were called to a residence in response to a shooting that left a man dead, reportedly at the hands of his brother. The city's police department shared that officers found the victim, 50-year-old Phillip Wilcox, with a fatal gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save him, Wilcox succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital, as reported by Lake Havasu City.
Details emerged indicating the shooter, identified as 52-year-old Justin Wilcox, might have believed his brother to be an intruder. The shooting occurred in their shared home on the 2100 block of Barranca Drive, with further investigation revealing no prior altercation, as detailed by Lake Havasu City. According to authorities, alcohol may have played a role in the egregious misconception leading to the shooting.
The Lake Havasu City Police, through an ongoing investigation, have since arrested and charged Justin Wilcox. Facing a 2nd-degree Homicide and Manslaughter charge, he was held on a considerable $500,000 cash-only bond pending further judicial proceedings and has been transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, the Lake Havasu City noted.
