A Lawrence man was taken into custody on charges of drug possession following a routine traffic stop conducted by the Reading Police Department. According to Boston 25 News, the incident took place around 9:13 p.m. on Saturday, near the area of Haverhill Street and Timberneck Drive.

The Reading Police reportedly pulled over a gray Honda Accord after they observed driving with no headlights on. During the stop, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana, prompting a search of the vehicle. Found inside the car were approximately 0.411 pounds of marijuana, alongside a scale and a box of small sandwich bags, indicative of intent to distribute. The driver, Jose Monge, was also carrying around $550 in cash.

Monge, 41, from Lawrence, was arrested without incident and faces several charges. As reported by the John Guilfoil Public Relations that represents the Reading Police, these charges include distribution or possession with the intent to distribute a Class D drug, a lights violation, and not having an inspection sticker.
