Three Lawrence residents are in federal custody on charges related to a major drug distribution operation. The men, identified as Ronald Odelyn Tejeda, 38; Erick Pimentel-Cabrera, 27; and Carlos M. Rodriguez, 36, face accusations of conspiring to distribute various controlled substances, with a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

According to details from the U.S. Attorney's Office in Massachusetts, the investigation into Tejeda began after suspicions arose that he was peddling pills laced with fentanyl around Lawrence. Undercover operations in August and September resulted in the confiscation of more than 5,000 counterfeit pills. At a residence shared by Pimentel-Cabrera and Rodriguez, where Tejeda was also spotted, authorities discovered an alarming assortment of drugs during an October raid—a substantial quantity suspected to be methamphetamine and fentanyl, including some 30,000 fentanyl-laced pills, along with firearms and a significant amount of cash.

The charges are severe; the trio could face up to $1 million in fines and supervised release ranging from three years to life after prison. This announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy and Stephen P. Belleau of the DEA's New England Field Division, with acknowledgement of support from Homeland Security Investigations and local police.

While the case is built on allegations from charging documents, as per the justice system, the defendants maintain their innocence until proven guilty. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Annapurna Balakrishna of the Narcotics and Money Laundering Unit. More details on the case can be found in the official press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
