In a move to enhance safety for pedestrians and park-goers, the City of Lewisville, Texas has announced the permanent closure of a section of Kia Drive. The affected stretch lies between the I-35E service road and East Southwest Parkway, adjacent to Glory Park/Parque La Gloria, according to the City of Lewisville. The closure is set to happen later this month, aiming to eliminate the dangers presented by vehicular traffic to families and individuals frequenting the park.
Though the drive next to the park will cease to support through traffic, provisions have been made for those needing to access the DriveTime facility; a private driveway from the I-35E service road will remain operational, ensuring that the facility remains reachable for motorists needing to get there while the connection from I-35E to Southwest Parkway will no longer be direct, with the city now directing traffic to the Corporate Drive interchange to facilitate the necessary access.
Officials clarify that despite the closure, mobility for motorists in the area should not be seriously hindered, with alternative routes, such as the I-35E service road still available for use.
