Keep Louisiana Beautiful alongside Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser recently celebrated the achievements of 29 Community Affiliates for their dedication to maintaining the state's natural allure. These communities were recognized for meeting the Circle of Excellence's rigorous benchmarks, which include advancements in professional development, a commitment to the affiliate network, and effectively executing programs that yield lasting improvements in their locales. These benchmarks aim to foster environmental preservation efforts throughout the state, as reported by the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation, & Tourism.
In recognition of their efforts, each Community Affiliate was awarded a Circle of Excellence plaque and a check for $500 during regional meetings this past summer. The awards intend to both honor and to perpetually motivate these communities towards continued diligence in the face of littering and local environmental challenges. As Lieutenant Governor Nungesser stated, "I'm proud of their commitment and passion for litter prevention and community beautification," according to the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation, & Tourism.
The accolades were dispensed at the Keep Louisiana Beautiful State Conference on October 23-24 at the Crowne Plaza Executive Center in Baton Rouge. The conference is an annual convergence point for state leaders and community improvement workers to discuss and devise strategies against Louisiana's litter problems, as well as to promote public space beautification. Over 40 experts shared best practices related to litter prevention, recycling, and sustainability efforts, further emphasizing the conference's importance in fostering statewide environmental stewardship.
According to the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation, & Tourism, there are currently 40 Community Affiliates in the Keep Louisiana Beautiful network, in addition to 12 University Affiliates.
